5 kids escape from city shelter home

Bringing to fore the poor security arrangements at the Ruchika shelter home under the Lingaraj police station yet again, five children fled from its premises on Wednesday night.

As per the report, the inmates managed to get out of the shelter home by breaking open the iron grill of the bathroom, of which the staffs remained unaware.

The Lingaraj police swung into action and started a search to trace the inmates after the shelter home authorities lodged a complaint with them on Thursday morning.

Notably, this is the second occasion that the inmates have managed to give the security staff at the Ruchika shelter home a slip. On May 1, 2017, as many as 12 children had fled from its premise by breaking the skylight of the toilet. However, one of them was caught at the Bhubaneswar railway station during a search later.

During the investigation it came to fore that, a Bangladeshi kid was the mastermind behind the incident. He was lodged at the shelter home here after escaping from one in Jatni.
