The Marshaghai police on Sunday arrested and court-forwarded five persons in connection with the NH bus dacoity committed at Takarpanga Chhak on the Paradip-Daitary Expressway a week ago.
Marshaghai PS IIC Sukant Kumar Patra also informed that some lathis, bhujalis and `1,200 in cash have been seized from them. The arrested were identified as Hunda Mallick of Bhuttumundai village, Jitu alias Bhanja Mallick, Maina alias Kumar Mallick and Anjan alias Ranjan Mohanty of Narayanpur and Mahesh Mohapatra of Masakani village under the Marshaghai PS.
According to Patra, the five along with their associates had looted passengers of a bus named ‘Surya’ while it was on its way from Kanthi to Paradip on last Sunday. The arrested have been sent to jail custody. The haunt is on to nab their associates.
