The Rajnagar police on Sunday arrested five persons for allegedly stripping a girl on June 14 and making video of the incident viral on the social media.
But the prime accused was still at large and police were on the lookout for him.
“We nabbed five of the accused and their interrogation is on. However, the prime accused in the case is still on the run and a manhunt has been launched to nab him,” said Rajnagar police station IIC Sukanta Patra.
As p26%er the complaint of the victim’s father, the incident occurred on Pahili Raja when seven youths caught hold of the girl, who had been to Pentha sea beach along with her male friend.
The youths misbehaved with the girl, ripped her clothes and attacked her friend while recording the incident on their mobile phones before fleeing from the spot on motorcycles, the complaint stated.
The girl’s father even alleged that one of the accused called their family threatening dire consequences if they inform anyone about the incident.
The accused would be produced in court on Monday, said the IIC.
