On Thursday, the Barbil police arrested a gang of five persons on the charge of diesel theft. This is the second such case.
Earlier on November 14, the police had arrested two persons and seized a diesel tanker for black marketing diesel in Barbil town.
Barbil police station IIC Sushanta Kumar Dash revealed that on December 23 morning, getting a tip-off from some reliable sources, a police patrolling team reached at Nalda near the border of Jharkhand State when the accused were engaged in collecting diesel from trucks parked there. After seeing the police, they were trying to flee; however, the police could nab them and seized 300 liters of diesel packed in plastic jars from the back side of an hotel owned by one Binod Kumar Yadav.
It is alleged that the accused were planning to sell the theft diesel to truck drivers. The police immediately arrested Binod and four others, who are said to be belonging to outside Odisha.
