In a significant breakthrough, police arrested five persons in connection with a rape attempt on a woman at Poipata village in the district three months ago.
Kendrapada SP Niti Sekhar informed this at a Press meet here on Tuesday.
On April 28, some miscreants barged into the house of a resident of Poipota and brutally assaulted her husband and sons before locking them in a room.
Later, they dragged the woman to an isolated place and attempted to rape her. But as she screamed for help, some locals rushed to her rescue and the miscreants had to flee from the spot. The woman and her two sons were later admitted to a hospital. The incident had then sent shockwaves in the district.
