Five persons were arrested by police on Sunday for allegedly impersonating as examinees while attending a competitive examination of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at two centres in Rourkela.

While one was arrested by the Sector-15 police from the Delhi Public School centre, four were held by the Plant Site police from the Guru Nanak Public School. All were identified as residents of Bihar.

As per reports, the examination was being conducted for constable posts in the CISF Fire Department. Sources said that when the five accused were undergoing identification process at their respective examination centres, their biometrics and identification cards did not match and their faces also differed from original examinees. Subsequently, invigilators informed the police who rushed to the centres and arrested them after interrogation. Meanwhile, a case under Sections 419, 468 and 470 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered in connection with the incident and the accused were forwarded to court on Monday. A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-rank officer along with CISF officials have also initiated a probe to establish if any other examinees used dummy candidates to appear at the examination, said sources.

The sources added that two associates of the arrested accused managed to flee from the spot and police were on job to nab them.
