At least five dengue positive cases have been detected in Athagarh area on Tuesday. After blood test confirmed the cases, the patients were referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
People have been frightened here after the news spread. Since Health Department has failed miserably to make people aware of dengue and local NAC and panchayat authorities have failed to clean drains and other bushy areas, the area has fallen vulnerable.
The dengue patients were one each from Samsarpur, Patenigaon and Mahalaxmipur village of Athagarh block and two from Gandhimarg under Athagarh NAC.
