A district-level national integration camp of Scouts and Guides was held at the Raja Arta Trana High School campus, Khariar from December 18 to 22.
Over 500 participants including teachers and Service Rovers and Rangers from across Nuapada district took part in the five-day camp, which was inaugurated by Khariar MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi. Other guests of honour on the inaugural day were Khariar BDO Uttam Bag, Khariar BEO Jagdish Khamari and Dev Dev Singh Deo. The meeting was presided over by Nuapada DEO Laxman Bhoi.
Educationists, journalists, elected representatives and other eminent persons visited the camp during the sessions as guests of honour on the subsequent days and blessed the participants. The interactive sessions were followed by colourful high-standard cultural programmes performed by the participants. Various forms of folksongs and patriotic songs were performed which depicted tradition and culture of the country.
"We are one in many, unity in diversity, brotherhood and cooperation is our motto," said the students in unison. When asked about the nationwide violent protests going on at present in the country, the students said, "It hurts us; and we become disturbed, seeing the news of violence all over India on the issue of the citizenship Act. Why don't these people think twice when indulging in such violent acts?”
