4th working group meeting also inconclusive

Published on:

The fourth meeting of the working group of the Indian Oil Corporation limited (IOCl) and the Odisha Government to resolve the tax issue of the Paradip Refinery held in New Delhi on Friday ended inconclusively.

Chief Secretary AP Padhi, who attended the meeting, said no conclusion could be arrived and decision taken at the meeting. Facts were exchanged between the two sides. As the Orissa High Court has asked the issue to be resolved in two months, the court would be asked for more time.

Three meetings of the working group have already been held to resolve the dispute without any results so far. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan, however, hoped that a solution can be found through discussions in the working group.

Finance Minister Pradip Amat said he expected that the Centre would agree to the points raised by the Odisha Government in the interest of the State.

Meanwhile media reports said, unfazed by the logjam with the Odisha Government over grant of fiscal incentives to its Paradip crude oil refinery, IOCl is planning to expand the capacity of the refinery from 15 million tonne per annum (MTPA) currently to 20MTPA.
