Bhubaneswar on Thursday registered 496 new Covid-19 positive cases, surging the State capital city’s total tally to 88,145. This was a substantial increase from the 375 infections reported on Wednesday. Out of the new cases, 407 were local contacts and 89 were quarantine cases. The local contacts included 23 cases in Chandrasekharpur, 19 in Dumduma, 17 in Khandagiri, 13 in Badagada, 11 in Jayadev Vihar, 10 each in Jagamara and Laxmisagar and seven in Gajapati Nagar.
Currently, the active cases stood at 1,557 in the city. Meanwhile, five more patients succumbed to disease in city on day, mounting the total death toll to 420. However, 410 persons recovered on day, increasing total recoveries to 86,147.
