The State continued to witness a surge in the Covid-19 positive cases with 470 new infections being reported from 19 districts and the State pool on Friday. With this, the total tally increased to 12,92,416.
Among the freshly-infected were 49 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Notably, the State had reported 428 Covid cases on Thursday.
Among the new cases, 276 were from quarantine and 194 local contacts.
Khordha district reported the day’s highest 221 cases followed by Cuttack with 94, Sundargarh 24, Puri 17, Baleswar and Sambalpur nine each, Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj seven each, Nuapada five, Ganjam, Jajpur, Nayagarh and Subarnapur four each, Keonjhar three, Kendrapada two and Bhadrak, Gajapati, Jharsuguda and Rayagada one case each.
Besides, 52 cases were reported from the State pool.
The number of active cases went up to 2,487.
So far, 9,126 patients have succumbed to the disease in the State.
On the day, another 204 patients recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 12,80, 954 in the State.
