The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department (PR & DW) has taken punitive measures, including suspension, disengagement and serving of show-cause notices, on a total of 258 block and GP level officials for commit-ting irregularities in rural housing schemes during the last five months since “PC stop” notice issued to districts on June 21. This was revealed from the information submitted by Minister Pradeep Maharathy in response to a question of BJP MlA Dilip Ray in the State Assembly on Tuesday. According to data, 47 GP officials, including 36 PEOs, seven GRSs and four VlWs, have been suspended on charges of corruption. While eight GRSs have been disengaged, some officials’ salaries held up. Highest number of 66 PEO, GRS, BDO, JE and JPTAs have been served show-cause notices in Nuapada district. In this district, 11 PEOs have been suspended. Similarly, salaries of 24 JE, GPTA and PEOs have been held up and 18 GRS and PEOs served show-case notices in Jagatsinghpur district.
