The police at Sambalpur arrested one Tima Jhankar alias Dhaneswar (37) having a long track record in criminal history that include robbery, theft, burglary, attempt to murder etc in different districts of eastern, western and northern Odisha since 2013.

Tima is a resident of Rasanpur village under Sadar police station of Sambalpur, informed Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar in a Press meet here on Friday.

Tima was involved in 45 heinous crimes but escaped from Keonjhar while he was being escorted to Mayurbhanj in the year 2019.

Based on information that Tima was staying in Sambalpur, a special squad was formed that finally nabbed him from his hideout. “Raids were conducted in different places based on reliable information. Finally, he came under police net after two years of absconding,” the SP said.Tima never stayed in his own house and was changing his hideouts frequently. Most interestingly, he was staying on trees inside forest by making sheds to elude arrest.

“But police team formed  three- layer cordons by the side of his hideout and apprehended him with much difficulty,” the SP said.

During the operation, a police team camped at Jamankira and found that the accused was using 10 SIM cards and 10 mobile phones to divert police from technical surveillance and mobile tracking.

“But all his tricks failed,” said the SP further. Police also arrested three of his associates, identified as Pramod Kumar Behera, Rabindra Dharua and Manoranjan Jhankar from Jujomura and Rasanpur.
