A woman of the city on Wednesday approached the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch (CB) to take action against some influential persons for grabbing over 45 acres of land located at Mahura Mouza in Khordha district.
Renubala Bairisal (45), wife of Pradipta Kumar Bairisal, who hails from Nageswar Tangi under the lingaraj police limits, in her complaint said the land was owned by her late father-in-law Dinabandhu Bairisal and her husband is his legal heir. The estimated value of the land is more than Rs 70 crore, she added.
Renubala said that after the death of Dinabandhu on September 17, 2004, one Jagannath Prasad Kanungo and his aides hired a fake person and executed a Deed of Power of Attorney on December 12, 2005 vide deed number 7829 by affixing a forged photograph of a person impersonating as her father-in-law. Besides, they had also executed several sale deeds in favour of Ranjan Kumar Panda, Sankarlal Gupta and many others, she alleged.
After getting information regarding the cheating, Renubala lodged an FIR at the Badagada police station against the persons involved in the fraud. The case was later given to two investigating officers (IOs) for probe, but the IOs didn’t add even a single paper to her complaint.
“Besides the police, I have already approached all Government authorities including the Chief Secretary, the DG of Police and the Bhubaneswar DCP to expedite my case, but nobody pays heed to my grievance,” Renubala said and held responsible the officials of Sub-Registrar’s office for their carelessness and allowing the culprits to sell the land with the forged documents.
When asked, CB Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajendra Patnaik said they would begin an inquiry into the case after getting a detailed report from the DCP, Bhubaneswar on the investigation done so far by the State police.
