T he total hydro power generation from different Government-run projects has been decreased by about 2129 million units (MU) this year.
While a total of 4,385.25 million units were produced during the current year till March 14, 2015, the generations were 6542 MU, 7205 MU, 4632 MU, 5202 MU and 5, 022 MU in the last five years, respectively.
Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das furnished the information in the State Assembly in response to a question of Congress MlA Naba Kishore Das.
During the year, while the Hirakud station generated 447.970 million units, Chipilima project 210.860 MU, Balimela project 580.560 MU, Rengali project 593.200, Upper Kolab 677.600, Upper Indrabati 1608.96 MU and Macchkund project generated 276.110 MU power. The hydro power ge, a total of 6524 MU hydropower had been generated from these projects.
The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) had sanctioned Rs 463.98 crore to the Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) for generation of power from the above Government projects. The OGPC utilizes the sanctioned money to generate power and targets to collect revenue.
The OHPC has spent Rs 62.08 crore for maintenance of the above hydro power projects.
