Finally, the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here allowed the Biramitrapur police to take the four arrested PlFI members, including former BSF Assistant Commandant Jadumani Patra, on a two-day remand on Wednesday.

The others who were taken on remand are PlFI zonal committee member Arjun Rana, area commander Karan Sai and Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) worker Mano Kujur. The former BSF commandant allegedly used to impart training at different centres of the group about use of rifles and other sophisticated weapons.

Meanwhile, Sundergarh SP Pinak Mishra wrote to the BSF office to know authenticity of an ID card recovered from the ex-Assistant Commandant.

It may be noted that in two days of rigorous exercise, the Kuarmunda police succeeded in nabbing 13 members of the People’s liberation Front of India (PlFI), the outlawed extremists group of Jharkhand, from a camp at the Kukudabahal forest under the Biramitrapur police limits and other parts of Sundargarh district.

Police expect many facts will be extracted from them after interrogation about the planning and future course of action of the group.

Though not officially revealed, close sources said that during the primary interrogation after arrest it was revealed by the extremists that they were planning to kill and abduct certain businessmen of Biramitrpur, Rourkela and Koira for extortion.

hey also had a plan to blow up a Kuarmunda-based leading industry to create panic among the businessmen who are not honouring their demand of paying levies.
