Differences between the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and the Congress legislature Party (ClP) came to the fore once again as four MlAs didn’t attend a meeting called by PCC president Prasad Harichandan in Koraput on Tuesday.
Party sources said Harichandan had asked the MlAs of Koraput district to attend the meeting scheduled to discuss issues relating to panchayat polls in the State.
“We couldn’t sit to discuss some issues as four of our MlAs didn’t turn up today due to ongoing Assembly session. There will be another meeting for the purpose soon,” said the PCC chief.
However, sources said two of the four MlAs are currently camping in New Delhi to meet the party high command.
Former Union Minister Srikant Jena and senior leader Mohammad Mokim were present with Harichandan to attend the meeting.
Meanwhile, Jeypore MlA and Opposition Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati said he was unaware about the meeting. “The OPCC didn’t invite to the meeting. I got to know about it from the DCC president this morning only,” Bahinipati stated.
In a related development, the party’s seven senior leaders including an MlA met AICC SC cell chairman K Raju in New Delhi on Tuesday. They are Jaydev Jena, Bhakta Das, Pradeep Majhi, Krushna Chandra Sagria, Shyamsunder Hansdah, Ripunath Seth and Bankanidhi Behera.
