Four persons might get punishment for illegally selling scraps from the East Coast Railway’s carriage repair workshop at Mancheswar here. The vigilance department of the Railways is probing the case, sources said on Sunday.
According to reports, Railways Vigilance sleuths caught four persons red-handed while they were trying to supply GI pipe, ply, 8mm rod, Iron angle and other scraps on Tuesday night. Though the Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials including Inspector PK Dalabehera were present over there, the persons believed as employees of Grade-IV employees of the Railways were taking the scraps defying all rules and regulations, sources said.
Reliable sources from Vigilance sleuths said they were interrogating a few RPF officials involved in the matter. They also cracked whip on the driver of the truck used for the supply, said the sources.
The Railway employees working in the workshop alleged that Inspector Dalabehera has been working for more than four years in the Mancheswar RPF outpost though the service rules does not permit to a RPF official to work more than three years at a police station. Perhaps the authorities want him to continue in the outpost who failed to check stealing of scraps every month, they added.
“We will submit the probe report within Tuesday and then the authorities of the Railways will take action against the culprits,” said an officer from the Vigilance department of the Railways.
