t least four persons died in two separate road accidents on National Highway-5 near Soro in Baleswar district on Monday.
Three people died on the spot in a head-on collision between a dumper and a pickup van while a motorcyclist was killed after a truck hit him from behind. The accidents occurred in quick succession near Soro, 35 km from here.
According to police, the pickup van dashed against the dumper going from south to north when it lost control and jumped the road divider near Chapulia, three km from the Soro police station. The driver, the helper and another man in the van died.
In the other accident, a motorcyclist run over by a truck died on the spot.
Police said investigation was on and the identities of the deceased had not yet been ascertained. The pickup van bore a West Bengal registration number.
