Four houses and a cycle shop were set ablaze following a group clash at Sagar village under the Narasinghpur police station on Saturday.
Being informed, the Narasinghpur fire brigade officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames. later, Additional Tehsildar Sarat Kumar Mallick and a police team led by Narasinghpur police station officer Haramohan Nayak and ASI Bhagirathi Nayak reached the spot and took control of the situation. Police forces have been deployed at the village to avoid any untoward situation. Investigation is on to know the exact reason of the incident, police said.
The scuffle erupted when over a hundred of villagers of Sagar village went to Dalit Sahi on Saturday afternoon and started quarrelling with some people there protesting the assault on four youths of Sagar village by some residents of Dalit Sahi earlier in the day.
When asked, a villager of the Dalit Sahi said some youths had beaten a youth of Dalit Sahi when he went up to a stage during a melody programme held at Sagar village on Saturday last and showed obscene gesture.
