The Khandagiri police have solved the case of looting of vehicle of car rental company UBER and arrested four youths, including a MBA student.
The accused have been identified as Pintu Digal, Sandeep Nayak, Jitendra Sahu and Sivil Kumar Priyadashan.
“Four members of the vehicle lifter gang have been held in connection with the car lifting case registered with the Khandagiri police. They were involved in a number of robbery cases,” said city DCP Satyabrata Bhoi.
A native of Kandhamal and presently resident of Salia Sahi, Digal is a notorious criminal and most wanted in a rape and dacoity case under G Udayagiri police station, police said.
Notably, the accused had booked a car on UBER app on March 21 from the SUM Hospital area. But on the way, they had overpowered the driver at gunpoint on the Chandaka road and fled with vehicle along with cash and documents, according to the complaint filed by the driver of the car Dillip Kumar Pradhan.
Sources said the miscreants had planned to dispose of the stolen vehicle in nieghbouring West Bengal. However, the involvement of MBA and engineering college students in criminal incidents is giving sleepless nights to the cops.
