The Ganjam police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of CPI leader Sakura Behera committed at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district on July 23. Two other accused are still on run, police said.
The arrested have been identified as Rajesh Moharana, S Mohan Reddy, Babu Panda and Bimala Panda of Chhatrapur town. A pistol and a bike have been seized from the accused, SDPO Chhatrapur AC Pahi said.
Exact motive behind the murder would be known only after the arrest of other two other principal accused but preliminary investigation revealed that the murder was due to the personal rivalry between one of the accused and the victim.
Miscreants had killed Behera on the outskirt of Chhatrapur town while he along with his associate Krushna Nayak was returning on a motorcycle. He succumbed to injuries on the way to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here.
The district units of CPI and CPI (M) demanded a CBI probe in the incident.
