Even though the coronavirus graph has shown an upward trend in the State, many people are flouting the norms of the Government, forcing the authorities to act.
On Saturday, police sealed two cinema halls in Paralakhemundi of Gajapati district for violating the Covid rules and two for not renewing licence.
The Jai Maa and Laxmi cinema halls have been sealed until further orders by the administration. The enforcement team found a huge crowd thronged the cinema halls violating the social distancing rules.Police also resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the huge crowd which had thronged the cinema hall to watch a Telugu movie.
Later, two more cinema halls AJ Cinema and Natraj Cinema hall in the town for not renewing the licences to exhibit films, said Paralakhemundi Tehsildar Achyutananda Jani.
Besides the four cinema halls in Paralakhemundi, one cinema hall in Rayagada was also sealed for violating Covid-19 norms on Friday.
