Police arrested four accused Manjir Zak i(30), Rameez Raja (26), Md Kasif (27) and Md Afroz alias Goku (26) on the charges of abducting and trying to kill Bajrang Dal activist Kaushik Bhawmik and sent them to the Champua Sub-Jail on Friday.
While Manjir, Kasif and Goku are the natives of village Alinagar, Rameez hails from Maulanagarh, all under the Champua police station of Keonjhar district.
It is to be noted that situation was very tense at Joda following a sensitive issue of beef supply to Joda and abduction of Kaushik and was a challenge for the police to maintain law and order and communal harmony.
As revealed by Champua PS IIC Debendra Nath Pingua, the culprits had fled away to the neighbouring Jharkhand after committing the crime. However, the police were able to arrest them by tracking their mobile phones and engaging own sources in Jharkhand.
Earlier, the Joda police had seized the vehicle used for the kidnapping purpose. The arrest seems to be a relief to both Hindus and Muslims.
