In a broad daylight robbery on Thursday, three bike-borne miscreants looted Rs2,99,400 at gunpoint from a bank at Bhutasarasinghi village under the Pursuotampur police station in Ganjam district.
Sources said the criminals barged into the Syndicate Bank branch and terrified the bank employees and several customers present at the time by brandishing guns at them. They then looted the cash before fleeing from the spot.
After the incident, senior police officials rushed to the bank and started investigation.
Sources said the police started raiding some suspected locations and blocked the entry and exit points in the nearby areas to nab the culprits.
