A total of 3,83,721 foreign tourists visited various tourists spots in Odisha between the year 2011 and September 2016, informed Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda in the State Assembly on Friday.
In response to a question of Congress member Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister said 3,628 out of the above number of foreign tourists visited Koraput during the period.
While 60,722 foreign tourists visited the State in 2011, 64,710 visited in 2012, 66,675 in 2013, 71,426 in 2014, 66,971 in 2016 and 53,203 in 2016 till September 30.
Visitors mainly come from America, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, UK, Spain, Japan, China, Russia, South Korea and South Africa to Odisha, the Minister said.
To a related question of BJP MlA Rabinarayan Nayak, the Minister said Rs31.50 crore has been allocated in the current year Budget for development of tourism and creating facilities for tourists.
