The ongoing anti-extortion drive by the Commissionerate police has become a success as in the past fortnight the cops have arrested 37 persons in Cuttack in connection with 29 different cases.
Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh said people have gathered courage and come foward to report about instances of criminals harassing or demanding extortion from them.“Say To No Extortion campaign has been successful as we have arrested 37 persons and seized three country-made pistols during an intensive drive carried out from October 14 to October 30,” said Singh.
He appealed people to come forward and share information whenever they come across anyone demanding extortion from businessmen and others.The Commissionerate police has formed an anti-extortion task force (AETF) to launch a crackdown on extortionists in twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
