As many as 7,706 molestation cases and 337 dowry death cases have been registered at different police stations in the State during the current year by September-end against 10,019 molestation cases and 501 dowry death cases reported in 2018.
Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJD member Soumya Ranjan Patnaik on Monday.
As wanted by the questioner, the Minister informed that Odisha doesn’t stand first in the women disrobing case and fourth in the dowry death case in the country as per the recently-published NCRB report.
“In compared to other States, crime scenario is satisfactorily under control in Odisha. All sensitive criminal cases are being investigated promptly and accused involved in them are being arrested as early as possible,” mentioned the Minister.
