As many as 32 high-mast lights, fixed equidistantly, now illuminate the three-km-long Badadanda (Grand Road) here.
The lights have been installed as per the MoU signed by the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) in March 2014.The high-mast lights have been fitted to 16-metre-high aluminium poles at their tops. Each mast has six reflector-boxes, each having a 20 watt diode bulb. A total of 192 bulbs have been fitted to illuminate the whole grand road from the Singhadwar to the Shree Gundicha Temple.
The NTPC has spent a total of Rs 2.51 crore for installation of the lights under its social welfare scheme. Further, the SJTA has decided to fix 27 numbers of high quality loudspeakers to electric poles to broadcast devotional songs.
