Even after admission into engineering colleges was held on Sunday for the students who had secured rank in the second Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE), as many as about 31,000 BTech seats are still lying vacant in the colleges across the State.
Following allotment of seats on the day, only 4,192 seats were filled up, taking the total number of admissions in 12,000 seats both in Government and private engineering colleges this year.
After the first phase of admission, 35,000 seats had fallen vacant in private engineering colleges. The second phase of the admission also could not fill the vacant seats, clearly suggesting lack of interest among students to pursue BTech.
