About 3,000 inhabitants in Brahman Sitapur village, 2 km from here, have been reeling under acute drinking water scarcity for last many days.

While of the 12 tube-wells in the village, eight have gone defunct, in the rest four, the water level has dipped low. As a result, while the whole population of the village is dependent on the four tube-wells, they are not producing much water.

The village has a water tank and pipe water system constructed under the Swachhaldhara Yojana, but the motor pump has burnt and has been lying dysfunctional for last 12 days. As a result, the entire water supply system has failed.

The villagers have to trek long distances to fetch water from the neighbouring areas. They alleged that though they have filed a complaint with the RWSS to nomalise pipe water system, but in vain and demanded the district Collector’s intervention in this situation.
