The Paradip Town Congress on Wednesday alleged that the new voters’ list of Paradip has included more than 3,000 voters ahead of the Paradip Municipality polls. “Fake voters have been enrolled at the behest of BJD leaders. It is their pre-planning win the upcoming Paradip Municipality polls illegally. If the fake voters are not removed from the voters’ list soon, we would approach the State Election Commission and, if required, knock on the court’s door,” Paradip Town Congress president Ranjan Das told a Press conference here.
Pointing to reports published in some newspapers regarding the Congress’ preparations on municipality polls, Das said, “It is not true that the Congress would fight the Paradip Municipality polls under Bapi Sarkhel.” “It is too a conspiracy against our party. A temporary committee has been formed to oversee the coming municipality polls,” he said, adding that Sarkhel and Er Pramod Kumar Jena had organised a get-together to sort out differences between them.
A temporary committee, comprising Promod Jena as convenor, Sarkhel as chairman and himself as coordinator was formed to oversee the upcoming civic polls, he said. Das further clarified that the committee was formed as the Town Congress has not been reorganised after Prasad Harichandan was made the PCC chief. He said Ranjib Biswal is still the Jagatsingpur District Congress president.
Among others, Paradip Women Congress president Kamala Ojha, former Youth Congress president Manoj Behera, former Councilor Janardan Mohanty and Kujang Block Congress president Santosh Kumar Das were present at the Press meet.
