More than 300 people were infected with food poisoning after eating in a dinner party at Bagdihi under Kirmira block of Jharsuguda.
The infected people complained of vomiting, headache and loose motion after a few hours the party was organised at Radha Krishna Dharmashala of Bagdihi on Monday night.
The people who took the dinner were rushed to the new PHC of Bagdihi, where in absence of the doctor who was on leave for training, a pharmacist treated. But the pharmacist was treating over 100 of the infected people single handedly.
Eventually, when the situation went worse, the locals informed the CDMO. later, a medical team consisting of seven doctors accompanied with five ambulances was pressed into service.
Jharsuguda CDMO Dr Damayanti Sahu said the delay in sending the medical team to Bagdihi occurred due to communication gap as the concerned pharmacist didn’t report the same in time. Now, the situation is under control, said the CDMO. To oversee the situation, MlA Jharsuguda Naba Kishore Das has rushed to hospital and inquired about the health situation of people under treatment.
