The State Government has proposals for establishing Kalahandi University’ at Bhawanipatna, Rajendra University at Balangir and Madhusudan Law University at Cuttack during 2020-21 academic year.
Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJD member Bhupinder Singh on Wednesday.
The Minister said the Kalahandi University would start functions from June 1, 2020. There was no budgetary provision made for this university in 2019-20. However, Rs 58 lakh has been allocated for the university in 2020-21 Budget. The allocated amount includes Rs 18 lakh for general expenditure and Rs 40 lakh for payment of salaries.
