As many as three truck drivers were burnt to death in a severe road accident near the Sadar police station on State Highway-10 in Jharsuguda district late on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the three trucks collided with each other following which the vehicles caught fire owing to electrical short circuits. The three drivers couldn’t come out of the trucks and were charred alive.
On being informed, Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
The identities of the deceased were yet to be established. The three damaged trucks were shifted to roadside with the help of cranes on Thursday morning.
Police recovered the drivers’ charred bodies and started an investigation into the incident. It was suspected that reckless driving on the part of the drivers led to the accident.
