Three teachers were killed and 10 others sustained critical injuries after a school bus skidded off Chandahandi Ghati (gorge) in Nabarangpur district on Sunday.
The deceased trio, including a retired teacher, were identified as Lalit Mohan Patnaik, Rina Nayak and Niranjan Nayak.
Sources said the school bus carrying around 35 students and teachers of the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre was going to the school at Chandahandi for a district-level seminar at around 11 am.
However, the bus driver lost control over the vehicle, following which it skidded off and fell around 15 feet off the Ghati.
On receiving information, Jharigaon fire brigade personnel reached the spot and recovered the dead bodies. The injured were admitted to the Jharigaon hospital for treatment.
