In a deeply shocking incident, four persons, including three members of a family, were killed and many others injured when a truck rammed into makeshift shops set up at a local fair during the Dhanu Yatra festival at Paramanapur under the Sasan police limits in Sambalpur district early on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at around 4.45 am when the truck was going to Jharsuguda from Sambalpur.
The deceased were identified as Md Sayad (40), Md Tayad (35), Waqur Alam (30) and Md Tanis (22). While three of them died on the spot, another succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.
The injured were admitted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla.
