The body of a man of Amamunda village under the Melchhamunda police station in the district was exhumed from the village crematorium by police and a forensic team on Thursday.
The police recovered the body after family members of the youth alleged murder as the reason behind his death.
Sources said that on April 18, the deceased Udaya Tandi had died while undergoing treatment after drinking spurious liquor. His family members had later buried his body in the village crematorium.
But after coming to know that Tandi’s death was a coldblooded murder by some other villagers, who allegedly forced him to drink spurious liquor, his wife and son lodged an FIR with the Padampur police.
Acting on the complaint, the police with the help of a forensic team exhumed Tandi’s body and sent it to the Padampur Sub-Divisional Hospital for postmortem.
“Someone had poisoned my father’s liquor which led to his death. He was having a rift with some people of the village and they might have poisoned him,” alleged Tandi’s son.
Bargarh SDPO Pradip Sahu informed that investigation into the incident is on.
“The deceased’s wife is alleging that some people of their village had mixed poison with his alcoholic drink. We have initiated an investigation and very soon, the culprits would be put behind bars,” added Sahu.
