Three minor boys were killed as a car hit their bike on Bagharla village main road under Gajapati district's Rayagad block on Sunday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Niranjan limma (14), Rohita Pradhan (14) and Rinki Bhuyan (9) of Narayanpur village. The three were going on a Pulsar bike when the car hit them.
While the car driver fled from the spot leaving behind the car, the police have detained a passenger of the car and started investigation.
Consequently, locals in large numbers blocked the road at Bagharla chhak by buring tyre as a result of which vehicular movement on the route to Brahmapur was stopped for hours. They demanded that adequate compensation be given to deceased's families and the driver be arrested and punished soon.
