The Commissionerate police on Tuesday arrested three persons, including Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) former Corporator Ranjita Biswal on charges of extortion.
Sources said the three accused were demanding the extortion money from a businessman here. The cops also seized Rs 1 lakh cash from residence of gangster brothers Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamant, who are currently lodged in jail.
Earlier, the former corporator was arrested twice for her alleged links with the gangster siblings.
Ranjita, who was elected as Corporator in 2015, was dismissed from the BJD’s primary membership following her arrest on March 7, 2018.
