Three persons were arrested in connection with detention and sale of a girl child in a private nursing home in Choudwar here on Thursday.

The arrested persons were two staff of the hospital and a man from Mahanga area who had reportedly took the child. They were forwarded to a local court, sources said.

Notably, last week, the nursing home authorities had denied to hand over the infant to her parents who failed to pay the hospital bill amounting to `4,300. They had discharged the mother, who delivered the baby on September 9, and asked the couple to collect the girl child only after paying the dues.

However, when the parents returned to the hospital to take back the child the next day, the hospital authorities denied the whole incident and allegedly sold the baby.

When the issue reported in media, the local police registered a case and questioned the four employees of the nursing home.

later, the baby was handed over to the parents in presence of the police on Monday.
