The Brahmapur police have detained three miscreants after a youth was severely beaten up and shot at over alleged past animosity at Phadiripara village under the Polsara police limits in Ganjam district.
The youth sustained grievous injuries after the three assailants beat him up with lathis and then shot him on the back with a pistol. Police seized the firearm from them.
The victim, Sushant Nayak, was injured in his head and stomach. He was admitted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here.
“They beat me with a lathi, then two of them held me, and Nabo came with the pistol. As I was in front, I tried to run away, but they caught me and he shot at me from the back,” said Nayak.
Past enmity was suspected to be the reason for the attack, according to police sources.
