Just three days after her wedding, a bride hung herself from the ceiling fan in her room at Bidabandha village in Dhenkanal district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Jharana Naik, daughter of Harihar Naik of Kalanda village under the Hindol police station in the district. According to reports, Jharana had married Madan Mohan Naik, a resident of Bidabandha , on February 17. However, the parents of the deceased haves stated to police in writing that Jharana had psychological disorder.
As per their statement, Jharana had developed the disorder five years ago when she was studying Class 10. She was under medication after consulting doctors of the Government hospital in Hindol.
Twelve days back, her parents had fixed her marriage with Madan Mohan , son of Muralidhar Naik, without considering her mental illness. She was said to be in good mental condition in her in-laws house. Later, the Sadar police sent the body for postmortem and are investigating into the incident.
