Much to the dismay and murmur among city cops, Cuttack city DCP S Praveen Kumar on Friday suspended three policemen of the Cantonment police station here for alleged dereliction of duties.
The three officials placed under suspensions are Sub-Inspector NK Sethy and Assistant Sub-Inspectors PK Mohanty and BK Behera.
According to sources, the DCP took action against the three officers for failing to take
prompt and timely action in a bomb blast case that took place in the Ring Road area under the jurisdiction of the police station on Wednesday evening.
Sources said some unidentified persons hurled at least two bombs into a roadside eatery late on Wednesday evening.
The eatery owner’s son had reportedly brought this to the notice of the Cantonment police station immediately. But police failed to reach the spot in time for which the miscreants managed to escape from the spot.
Cantonment police Inspector Kedar Nath Sahoo on Friday said that no one is yet arrested in connection with the Wednesday’s bomb blast incident.
