Three police officials, including an Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of the Malkangiri police station, here were detained by the Vigilance police for allegedly taking bribe on Friday.
The accused officials were identified as Inspector-in-charge Ranjan Kumar Sahu and Sub-Inspectors Manas Swain and Anil Kumar of the police station.
The Vigilance sleuths caught the cops red-handed while they were receiving a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from Bidyut Charan Dash, director of the Om Bhurbhuban Svah College.
Taking prompt action, DGP RP Sharma suspended IIC Sahu with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, Sahu will remain under the disciplinary control of DIG of Police, SWR, Koraput.
The IIC was arrested and forwarded to court.
