The Jharsuguda police arrested five truck drivers and three police Constables on Wednesday for clashing over seizure of 40,000 litres of diesel a few days back. According to information, a group of truck drivers beat up three Constables, who were on a special squad duty near IOCl terminal main gate, as the latter demanded bribe money on Tuesday night. The drivers alleged that the constables were harassing them and threatening to frame them in the case if they refused to pay bribe.
As drivers refused to pay the bribe, an altercation erupted between the two groups. Drivers not only thrashed the constables but also snatched away their service revolvers.
“All the eight accused were arrested and sent to judicial custody on Wednesday,” said SP AK Mohanty.
