: High-voltage tension prevailed as locals torched three cattle-laden pickup vans along the Karmada-Baliapal road in Baleswar on Saturday night.
As per reports, around 100 cattle were allegedly being transported to West Bengal in three pickup vans. Somehow managing to get this information, locals intercepted the vehicles and informed police about the incident.
However, the police allegedly did not take any action against the cattle smugglers. Irate over this, the villagers unloaded the cattle, ransacked the vehicles and set them on fire.
The locals alleged that mafias are transporting hundreds of cattle-laden trucks from Baleswar to West Bengal daily. Even thogh they are managing to get information how they police are clueless about it, they questioned.
Locals have demanded action against illegal cattle transportation by the administration.
