A day after a 58-year-old man of Baleswar tested positive for COVID-19, the local administration on Sunday sealed three wards of the town and declared them as containment zones to prevent the virus spread.

As many as nine entry points connecting Ward Nos 18, 28 and 29 have been sealed. Nobody is allowed to come out of their houses and nobody can enter the area, informed Sub-Collector Nilu Mohapatra. An emergency meeting of the district administration was convened on Saturday night in this connection.

The three places have been declared as ‘containment zone’ by the district administration for seven days in the first phase. The administration would provide essential items like groceries and medicines to the persons residing in the zone, said Mohapatra.

The health checkup of around 400 families of the area would be conducted by health workers. Besides, contact tracing of the patient was being carried out.

On Sunday, Fire Services personnel carried out disinfection drive in the area.
