Around 3,000 kg of ganja being transported by a truck was seized by police at Machakunda in Lamtaput block of Koraput district on Saturday night.
The price of the seized contraband was estimated to be Rs 1.5 crore. The ganja was being smuggled to a neighbouring State, sources said. According to reports, the truck was intercepted by police due to its high speed. The driver of the vehicle immediately fled the spot while the truck was seized and brought to the police station, where the ganja was found during a search of the vehicle.
Involvement of a racket was suspected behind the smuggling. Investigation into the matter was underway and efforts were on to nab thedriver.
