The Commissionerate police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including the owner of a real estate firm, in separate cases of fraudulent land deals in Bhubaneswar.
The Mancheswar police arrested two cheats, Amit Nayak and Sanjit Mohaptra, on charges of duping a person on the pretext of selling land in the Chakeisiani area.
The duo with the help a fake land owner managed to fleece Rs 49 lakh and Rs 19 lakh fraudulently from the victim, in two phases. In another case, the Saheed Nagar police arrested Sarala Realcon Builders managing director Gayadhar Jena late on Tuesday night for a land fraud of Rs 5 lakh.
Following his arrest the cops stumbled on two more cases of land fraud. During interrogation, it was revealed that Jena has also cheated few Army and CRPF Jawans of Jammu and Kashmir. The accused has been arrested four times before this on similar charges.
